Genocide - Transitional Justice - Conflict Resolution
Solvej Berlau is a specialist in modern history with a particular focus on the history of violent conflicts and genocide. She is Head of Section at the Danish Institute for International Studies, Department for Holocaust and Genocide studies, where her work focuses on examining the dynamics that can lead to genocidal violence and the dilemmas and difficulties of reconciliation in the aftermath, especially in relation to cases of international criminal tribunals and the evolution of transitional justice. Solvej has first hand experience of performing political analysis and has particular expertise in conflict assessments and analysis. Through her field research in conflict areas, she has developed a profound understanding of the complex issues arising for parties involved in conflict situations. As well as field research, she has worked at a number of international institutions and is an experienced lecturer in History and Development Studies (at both the university and high school level). Solvej Berlau works as a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Gaby Bourjaili
Resources and Conflict - Geo-strategy Analysis and African Conflicts
Gaby Bourjaili is an expert in international politics, resources and conflicts in the Middle East and Africa. He has carried out numerous missions for both private and public organizations in Africa and the Middle East, and has extensive experience in policy analysis, project design and assessment missions. His most recent assignment was for the Togo Tourism Government Department as a special advisor for the development of eco-tourism based on sustainable tourism criteria. He has written many evaluation reports for private companies located throughout Africa, and he recently advised the Lebanese government on international standards relating to Lebanon’s new Penal reforms. Gaby Bourjaili is currently working in Paris as a consultant for SELA Advisory Group, among others. 
John Flockhart

John Flockhart is a trained and experienced Capacity Building (CB) and business development consultant with a background in CB, research, training and teaching. He has carried out on-site missions in Bangladesh and Laos, and completed deskwork assignments in Europe and Asia. John has played a key role in education projects since 1981 and been an international CB and business development consultant since 2003. He has contributed to the development and management of business development, education and VET programmes and been an active team player in Public Private Partnership (PPP) and regional governance research projects. John has over ten years experience as an educator in all sectors from primary to tertiary levels, having designed curriculum and modules for MA and BA levels, as well as VET and TEFL programmes at FE & school level and in the private sector. He has a high level of analytical competence, management experience and business development skills and excellent levels of oral and written communication combined with highly developed interpersonal skills and a keen sense of humour! Stig Marker Hansen
Stig Marker Hansen has been working in the field of project management for about two decades as Manager or Director for different development programs in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Stig is currently living in Nepal, leading an EC funded Justice and Human Rights reform program and serves as advisor on conflict mitigation issues in Africa. Prior to taking up this position, he worked with conflict mitigation and mediation for the US Government in Uganda and in the Sudan from 2003 - 2007. He was Head of Office for the Danish Government's the reconstruction of Kosovo 1999 – 2003. Stig holds a Ph.D. in International Relations and is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Ahmed Aly Hussein
International Business Development - International Finance and Mediation
Ahmed Aly Hussein is a freelance Finance and International Business consultant based in Cairo, Egypt. He has extensive experience in international finance, business restructuring, reshaping failing management strategies and international negotiations. He developed his expertise by working for multinationals such as Paine Webber and Chase Manhattan in New York, as a financial analyst and international business expert. He actively participated in setting up youth networks around the world for the Youth Employment International Campaign, launched in 2002. Aside from his current work as a business development consultant and financial expert in Cairo and the Middle East, Ahmed has created an adventure tourism company, Invision Tours, through which he aims to promote a different side to his country by taking tourists on unbeaten paths. Ahmed Aly Hussein is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Waleed Aly Ibrahim
Environmental Affairs - Youth Empowerment - Community and Capacity Development
Waleed Aly Ibrahim attained his Master of Environmental Management from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, where he developed his main expertise - the management of social and environmental integration. Waleed is furthermore a teacher by profession and has through the years centred his work around engaging youngsters in educational learning projects in challenging environments (refugee camps, low-income and developing areas) and how to integrate youngsters in an otherwise well-functioning environment through sports. Through his upbringing and experiences of working in Egypt and the Middle East, Waleed has obtained a great insight to the region and has a solid understanding of project management in developing areas. For SELA Advisory Group, Waleed works within the areas of Youth as Actors of Changes, Development through Sports, and Corporate Social Responsibility. 
Rita Kévorkian
Community Development – Refugees & IDP – Gender Studies
Rita is an expert in Community Development with a wide and in-depth understanding of humanitarian and relief work. She has ten years of experience in working with minority groups, internally displaced people and currently refugee communities. Rita has experience as a consultant in heading and supporting humanitarian and development projects focusing on women and youth empowerment, in both rural and urban areas. Throughout her studies in social work, graduate studies in Community Development and working experience for local NGOs and international agencies, she has developed her skills in negotiation, communication, conflict resolution, participatory appraisal, community needs assessment and research analysis; as well as strategic planning, project proposal writing and drafting country operations reports/plans. She has particular experience in training and heading outreach activities, sexual and gender based violence programs and group livelihood projects. Rita lives in Beirut, Lebanon and is native Armenian speaker; but also masters Arabic, English and French. She is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Katrine Siig Kristensen
Humanitarian Relief work - Conflict Management - International Relations
Katrine Siig Kristensen is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in various aspects of humanitarian assistance, transition processes/early recovery and conflict management, with a special emphasis on Africa, in particular Sudan. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science/International Relations from Copenhagen University in Denmark and for the last two and a half years, Katrine has worked for the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the United Nations in New York, dealing with Security Council matters. During this time she became actively involved in the UN reform agenda, with a particular focus on the reform of the humanitarian sector. Through her experiences she has developed sound analytical reporting and research skills and a wide network of contacts, both at the Headquarters and field level. Katrine Siig Kristensen currently works in West Darfur, Sudan as a programme officer/coordinator for the Danish Refugee Council and as a consultant for SELA Advisory Group.

Matthew King is a dynamic international development professional, with expertise in the fields of conflict prevention and global security. He has extensive experience in organizational change management, strategic planning and systems development, and works in collaboration with organizations to explore long-term futures and opportunities to improve projects, from the concept and planning stages through to implementation. In addition, he has undertaken several organizational evaluations, best practice and lessons learned studies for projects across Europe, Russia, Central Asia and the Middle East. His strong networking, management and business development skills have given him a proven track record of successful grant writing to secure government, corporation and foundation funding. With an additional three years experience in cultivation processes. Matthew King is currently working for the EastWest Institute, New York and as a consultant for SELA Advisory Group.

Ida Ljunggren has worked in the field of Fair Trade, project management, marketing, event coordination, fundraising, capacity building of producer groups, business analysis and advisory and Fair Trade compliance assessments for more than 10 years. Over the last four years, Ida has been actively engaged in the development and improvement of various Fair Trade initiatives in West Africa, particularly in Ghana and Burkina Faso. Ida has worked extensively on Danida B2B programmes. Ida has a Master degree in international business & development studies with a minor in human rights and democratisation. 
Lina Nadar
Mainstreaming - Sharia - Women and Conflicts.
Linar Nadar completed her MA studies at the Interdisciplinary Studies graduate programme at York University in Toronto, Canada, where her research focused on minority rights, women’s rights and the multicultural state. She has been studying the Erasmus Mundus Euroculture Masters programme in September 2007. Her areas of expertise are multiculturalism policies in Canada and the European Union, minority rights, diaspora politics, transnational politics of religion, citizenship studies, and Muslim Family Law. She has been an active participant in a number of conferences on modern Muslim identities, transnational feminism, and Arab women’s politics. Lina Nadar has worked on gender projects and initiatives for the Canadian International Development Agency in Cairo, Egypt. She has lived and worked in Saudi Arabia, Canada, Spain, Poland and Egypt. Lina Nadar is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Senad Šabovic
Post Conflict Reconstruction - Peace Building - Transitional Justice
Senad Sabovic is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in various aspects of post-conflict peace building and transition processes, with a special emphasis on the area of the former Yugoslavia. He holds a BA degree in Political Science/International Relations from the American University in Bulgaria, and an MA degree in Peace Studies/Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford (UK). For the last five years he has been engaged in the fields of political and policy research, minority rights, democratization, legislative support, conflict resolution research and advocacy, human rights research and reporting, and civil society analysis. He has worked with international organizations such as the OSCE and the International Crisis Group, and as an independent professional in Kosovo and other areas of the former Yugoslavia. Through his experiences these engagements, Senad Šabovic has developed sound analytical reporting and research skills and a wide network of contacts throughout the given region. He grew up in the former Yugoslavia, and he has profound knowledge of all relevant political, economic and social processes of transition in Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Macedonia, as well as an excellent overview of the dominating political forces in the region. Senad Šabovic currently works as a political officer for the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and as a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Paul Scham
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict - Conflict Resolution – Islamic-Jewish relations
Paul Scham is a (non-practicing) attorney who has extensive experience dealing with both sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, both in the U.S. and in Israel/Palestine. He holds a B.A. from Columbia, a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, and has done graduate work at Princeton in History and at the University of Cologne in Comparative Law. He coordinated numerous Israeli/Palestinian/Jordanian projects while living in Jerusalem, working with and consulting for Israeli and Palestinian NGO’s and universities. Since 2002, he has worked in Washington, D.C., teaching, writing, and consulting for NGO’s, government, and think tanks on developing aspects of the conflict and on conflict resolution. He has developed ideas for the practical use of historical narratives in peacemaking, and has taught at George Mason and Catholic Universities. At present, he is researching the conflict within the framework of the entire Middle East and the rise of Islamism, and examining how reconciliation may be possible in this context. He is currently an Adjunct Scholar at the Middle East Institute and a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Laura E. Smith
Corporate Social Accountability and Impact Assessments – North African Geo-politics – Quality Assurance
Laura Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Studies, a Master’s degree in Peace Studies and has a post graduate qualification in Critical Social Policy. She has worked for several years as a human rights campaigner and social researcher in the Sahara region of North Africa, and her work on the geo-politics of the region has been published academically. She has recently been engaged in research which examines the role of private corporations in developing countries in relation to conflict prevention and peace building, with a particular focus on the development of social impact assessments and the concept of corporate social accountability. She has advised corporations and briefed the UK government on the political stability of the Sahara region. Laura works for the non-profit sector in the UK and currently she is an advisor for a Preventing Violent Extremism project, which promotes youth inter-cultural dialogue in a multi-ethnic region of the UK. She is based in the UK and has worked and studied in the USA, Russia and France. Laura Smith is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Alaa Taher
Epidemiology - Public Health - Biology
Alaa Taher has a background in Life Science and Public Health. His undergraduate degree is in Biology and he obtained his Master of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology, from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia,. Through his studies and work experience he has gained a thorough understanding of infectious diseases and has a particular expert knowledge of the Hepatisis C Virus and HIV/AIDS. Prior to his MPH, Alaa worked in Egypt for three years, mainly engaged in vector biology and infectious diseases research at the American Navy Medical Research Unit. Alaa Taher has worked extensively in the field in various governorates in Egypt and has resided in different environments and communities which have exposed him to different cultural sensitivities. During his last employment, he managed a project on wildlife conservation with BirdLife International in Egypt, working closely with the Ministry of Environment. Throughout the course of the last year, Alaa Taher co-founded "Nature Conservation Egypt" (NCE), a conservation NGO. He has just finished working with the NGO and IUCN Intl on a project to establish a marine protected area in the Mediterranean Sea, on the north Egyptian coast. He is currently working on an ecological guide book for Egypt and has co-established an eco-tourism company, InVision Tours, in Egypt. Alaa Taher is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Simiso Velempini
Regional Integration - International Relations - Conflict Resolutions
Simiso Velempini has been working as a consultant and project manager for several multilateral and public organizations in South Africa. Her field of expertise is in international relations, regional integration and conflict analysis, and she has experience working with the World Bank’s African Business Directory and Southern African Trust’s poverty alleviation project, focusing on the link between increased FDI and poverty alleviation. Her current role as a business analyst for Frontier Advisory – a research and strategy firm focusing on emerging and frontier economies – involves her in project research in the retail, mining, energy and financial services sectors. She has also collaborated with the Joint Economic AIDS Poverty Programme (JEAPP) to research the economic impact of HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa, and continues to contribute to the Centre for International Political Studies in Pretoria in their research on conflict management in Africa. Simiso Velempini is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group. 
Matthias Wohlfeil
Humanitarian Relief Work - Refugees and Human Rights - Logistics
Matthias Wohlfeil has ten years of experience in humanitarian and relief work in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa. He has extensive experience in project development, project evaluation and assessment missions in war-torn areas and in refugee camps' logistics. Matthias Wohlfeil cooperates with international and local organizations such as Care International, Help, ECHO, UNDP, the German Ministry for Foreign Affairs (AA), and the German Ministry for Development and Cooperation (BMZ). Throughout his work experience he has undertaken various missions in Rwanda, Chad, Chechnya, Kosovo and Albania, to name a few, and he has developed expert skills in negotiations, logistics and problem-solving. He is currently working for Care International in Rwanda and is responsible for an integrated reinsertion project for former refugees in Rwanda. Matthias Wohlfeil is a consultant for SELA Advisory Group.
